Sorbic acid (CH3CH:CHCH:CHCOOH), is a
tasteless acid found in the fruit of the
mountain ash (genus Sorbus) and prepared
synthetically. It is widely used in the
preservation of food-for example, cider,
wine, soft drinks, animal feeds, bread,
and cheese.
